John 'Soap' Mactavish (Bravo 7-1) is a former member of Task-Force 141 that was formed after the events of the Modern Warfare 1 campaign. He's a major character throughout the Modern Warfare 2 and 3 campaigns.

Soap is the youngest candidate to pass SAS selection in Royal Army history, and he earned his nickname from being able to clean houses with remarkable speed and accuracy in room clearance techniques and urban warfare tactics. He's a trained sniper and demolitions expert that was often operating in isolation and under pressure, performing critically timed activities in support of clandestine missions. (pssst,,, hes also Scottish. This is important information, trust.)

I dont think i'll ever be able to get over Soap ever. He means a lot to me and is someone I aspire to be like in life and even though he is just a fictional character its still really comforting to see him doing what he does. SO SEEING HIM DIE HURT A LOT GGRURRUI

Every once in a while I think of something new relating to Soap (the fact Ghost, Gaz and Price went to Scotland just to scatter his ashes. Or seeing him in the former member section) and I get really sad and most of the time end up crying.
